At the BWF Super Series Malaysian Open on Sunday, China won three titles in women's doubles, mixed doubles and women's singles, while Hosts Malaysia grabbed the other two.
Home favourite and world number one Lee Chong Wei was looking for his sixth Malaysian Open title as he faced Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana in the men's singles final. Boonsak didn't show much fight after first game as Lee Chong Wei cruised for the title in straight games 21-13, 21-7.
In the women's singles final, China's Wang Xin took on Korean teenager Bae Youn-joo. A return off the head on the way made Wang lose the first game 19-21. Wang won the second game to level, then in the third Bae Youn-joo suffered an ankle injury, she pleaded to be treated but is denied by tournament officials. Bae gamely played on but only put up limited resistance with the injury, as Wang took a 14-6 lead. The Korean finally heeded the advice of her coach and retired, giving the title to China's Wang Xin 19-21, 21-17, 14-6.
